This handcrafted stained glass suncatcher features the symbol of The United Methodist Church in vibrant, real stained glass. The cross element is rendered in a deep, dark brown glass  while the flowing flame uses a striking red and orange swirled glass. The pieces are joined using the traditional copper foil method. It comes ready to hang as a window or wall decoration.

Significance of the Design

The insignia is rich in meaning and was adopted in 1968 to mark the union of two denominations: The Methodist Church and the Evangelical United Brethren Church.

  • The Cross: This central element relates the church to God through Christ, the foundation of the faith.
  • The Flame: The flame symbolizes the Holy Spirit, a reminder of Pentecost, when witnesses saw "tongues of fire" and were unified in their mission.
  • The Dual Tongues: The single flame with two tongues is often understood to represent the union of the two denominations that formed the United Methodist Church.

Who Would Like It?

This product is a meaningful item that would appeal to:

  • United Methodists: Church members and clergy would appreciate this symbol of their faith and denominational identity for their homes or offices.
  • Gift Givers: It is a thoughtful and appropriate gift for significant religious milestones such as baptisms, confirmations, ordination anniversaries, or even as a pastor appreciation gift.
  • Art & Decor Lovers: Individuals who collect religious art or appreciate the unique way stained glass catches and refracts light would value this handcrafted piece.
